Any time a vehicle is parked on campus, it must display a valid Texas State permit. All students are required to register with Parking Services any vehicle they drive and park on campus and purchase the appropriate color parking permit. Parking rules are enforced every day of the year.
(Hall) Residence Parking
Students living in Residence Halls may purchase a Residence Hall Permit ($485/year) or a Perimeter Permit ($115/year).
Residence Hall Permits allow parking in the areas marked as "GREEN" Residence Hall Lots and the All-Zone Perimeter Lots at any time. After 5 p.m. M-F and on weekends, most other areas become open for vehicles displaying a valid Texas State Permit. There is ample space for (Hall) Resident parking, but there is NO guarantee that a space close to one’s hall will always be available. There will be times when the closest space may be in a Perimeter Lot. Parking Services provides an evening shuttle service and other safety escort services from the Perimeter Lots (245-SAFE).
Perimeter Permits allow parking in the Perimeter Commuter and All-Zone lots at any time. After 5 p.m. M-F and on weekends, most other areas become open for vehicles displaying a valid Texas State Permit. Parking Services provides an evening shuttle service and other safety escort services from the Perimeter Lots (245-SAFE).
Hall Residents should apply on-line at Parking Services
for their permit as soon as a Residence Hall housing code is available. Permits should be ordered well in advance of arriving on campus to allow time for them to be mailed.
Off-campus residents are encouraged to use the park-and-ride Texas State Bobcat Tram. Off-campus residents are eligible for a PURPLE Perimeter Permit. Several Perimeter parking lots surround the main campus, and most are served by the Bobcat Tram.
Perimeter permits are not transferable from vehicle to vehicle, but commuters may register more than one vehicle. The cost for each permit is $115 per year. To avoid long lines at Parking Services, permits can be mailed upon request. Commuters should first register on-line. Payment can be made by credit card on-line. Vehicle registration cards and payment can also be mailed to Parking Services. Parking Services will mail the permit to the permanent address listed on the vehicle registration card.
Commuters must park in the designated PURPLE areas between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. After 5:00 p.m. and on weekends, most color zones are open to any valid permit holder.
Campus Apartment Parking
Parking areas near Clear Springs, Comanche Hills and Riverside Apartments are reserved 24 hours per day for apartment residents only and are designated as Silver on the map. Apartment managers send Parking Services a list of residents each fall and spring semester. Apartment residents should complete a vehicle registration form and purchase their silver permit at Parking Services as soon as they move in to their apartment. The cost of a permit is $485 per year.
After 5:00 p.m. and on weekends, most zones are open to any permit holder.
