Special Events

Texas State University is home to many special events, including athletic events, conferences, commencements, and workshops and Parking Services can assist you with making the appropriate arrangements.

There is no free parking in either the pay garages or in permit parking areas except for the following events or as approved by the Vice President for Finance and Support Services.  Departments are responsible for contacting Parking Services to arrange for exempt event parking:

Exempt Events:

  • Board of Regents meetings
  • Any events at the request of the President
  • Bobcat Days
  • Residence Hall Move In
  • Academic Department Inductee Ceremonies
  • Pick It Up, Pass It On

Special Events

  • Visitors to the Welcome Center in the LBJ Student Center
  • Voting Poll Workers
  • Commencement and related ceremonies (e.g. hooding, ring, commissioning, pinning)
  • Round Rock ISD Career Fair
  • Round Rock Arts Council Imagine Event
  • Round Rock Campus Open House

Special Event Parking

University departments planning to host or authorize any event must contact Parking Services concerning parking availability at least two weeks prior to scheduling the event (and prior to the dissemination of parking information to attendees), and must complete the Special Event Parking Request Form.

Parking Services will contact the requester to discuss which parking facilities may be available, to offer alternative suggestions to accommodate the request, or to deny the request.

For events held in the Performing Arts Center or the Theatre Center, parking is located at the Edward Gary Garage at the corner of University Drive and Edward Gary street.

Event Transportation and Traffic Management Requirements

High School Graduations and other large events using Texas State perimeter parking areas that have the potential to effect traffic are designated as a Tier 1 or Tier 2 event based on several factors, including the number of attendees. The following requirements apply.

General Requirements - Required for Tier 1 and Tier 2

2 Police Officers are required to block Charles Austin for traffic control and pedestrian access.

EMT service is required on site to manage any medical emergencies that may arise during the event.

Bag Check at entrance is required.

UEC Lot (P8/R41) Usage Requirements

  • 1 Texas State Parking Officer in P8/R41
  • 1 Parking Attendant Required for Jowers Access

Aquarena Lot (P9) Usage Requirements

  • 1 Texas State Parking Officer in P9
  • 1 Parking Attendant for Jowers Access

Bobcat Stadium West Lot (P10W) Usage Requirements

  • Police required to control light/traffic at the intersection of Hopkins and Charles Austin

Bobcat Stadium East Lot (P10E) is only available for Tier 1 events.

Tier 1 Event Additional Requirements

Tier 1 events have over 350 guests attending and must have the following parking and traffic controls in place, in addition to meeting all of the general requirements.

Aquarena Lot (P9) Usage Requirements

  • 5 Parking Attendants in P9
  • 2 Police Officers to control ingress/egress to P9

Bobcat Stadium West Lot (P10W) Usage Requirements

  • 2 Parking Attendants in P10W
  • 1 Parking Supervisor in P10W
  • 1 Police Officer to control ingress/egress to P10W
  • Police required to control light/traffic at the intersection of Thorpe Lane and Robbie Lane

Bobcat Stadium East Lot (P10E) Usage Requirements

  • 2 Parking Attendants in P10W
  • 2 Police Officers to control ingress/egress to P10W
